Job Summary:

Post ISD is seeking a dedicated and dependable Maintenance/Grounds Keeper to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the school grounds and facilities are well-maintained, safe, and clean for students, staff, and visitors. This position requires a hands-on, proactive individual with an eye for detail and a strong work ethic.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks including landscaping, mowing, trimming, and fertilizing school grounds.

  • Maintain and repair playground equipment, sports fields, and outdoor structures.

  • Inspect and repair irrigation systems to ensure proper water distribution.

  • Clean and maintain outdoor areas, including parking lots, walkways, and exterior building surfaces.

  • Assist with basic plumbing, electrical, and HVAC maintenance.

  • Respond to maintenance requests from staff and faculty in a timely manner.

  • Ensure safety procedures are followed in all aspects of maintenance and grounds care.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including tools and equipment.

  • Assist with set-up and tear-down for school events and activities, as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Director.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Previous experience in groundskeeping, maintenance, or custodial work is preferred.

  • Ability to operate maintenance equipment, such as mowers, trimmers, and power tools.

  • Knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, and HVAC maintenance.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.

  • Physical stamina and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with staff.

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with irrigation systems and lawn care.

  • Basic knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to maintenance.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and perform minor repairs to school facilities.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold.

  • Standing, bending, and walking for extended periods of time.
